This Saturday, take a step back in time. Visit Pears Mill, an 1857 water-powered mill. Located in Buchanan, Michigan’s downtown Historic District. The mill is adjacent to Buchanan Farmers Market. Pears Mill is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through Labor Day. There is no charge.

Arts Alive is pleased to announce our next gallery show of 2025, “Savor the Flavor.” This show is open to any member of the public and all mediums are accepted.

Artists can interpret each gallery theme in any way they see fit. All ages are welcome to submit artwork. Enter up to 3 pieces per show at $5 per piece. Pieces may be submitted at the Tibbits Administration Office (93 W Chicago St. Coldwater, MI) Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Pieces must be ready to display or hang. PLEASE USE HANGING WIRE because tooth hangers or anything other than hanging wire is not compatible with our system. Sculptures and all other mediums accepted. Please do not submit artwork that contains nudity. Arts Alive has the right to refuse entries. The submission deadline for this show is July 8, 2025 at 5pm and the show will hang July 9-September 1, 2025 in the Tibbits Opera House Art Gallery.

With a unique blend of mind-bending magic and side-splitting comedy, Jonathon LaChance has appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Masters of Illusion and The Today Show, along with ABC, FOX and PBS programming. Jonathon has toured the country for the last several years, including a win in the Close-Up Classic, held annually in the Magic Capital of the World, Colon, Michigan! Expect to laugh and be amazed as Jonathon brings Laugh Magic to the stage!

Get ready for a sunny art adventure! We’re taking a stroll through the galleries to discover artworks that capture the fun and warmth of summer. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden surprises and splashy colors as we dive into summer-inspired art!

Take a Wonder Walk through the galleries! The walk will include close looking at a few artworks as well as gallery games and activities. This is a great way to introduce your little one to art and the museum. Wonder Walks is for children 2-4 years old (but all are welcome) and is free with the cost of admission. Caregivers must stay with their children at all times. Preregistration is encouraged. Adults, remember to register your children!

Six quirky tweens are determined to out spell each other for the Putnam County Spelling Bee champion title. While tackling a series of ultra-challenging words, these spellers share hilariously awkward stories from their home lives that could make anyone question the definition of "normal." One speller will walk away with the trophy and bragging rights, while the others face the soul-crushing humiliation of a “ding” and the consolation prize of a juice box. What could be worse than that? Winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, this charming musical has audiences in stitches with its quick-witted dialogue and outrageous characters. This is one spelling event that proves it’s not just about winning, but about having a good laugh along the way!

Tibbits Opera House is partnering with the Coldwater Community Center to offer a pre-show dinner for the August 2nd performance. Join your friends for dinner (alcoholic beverages included) and dessert at 5:30pm at the Coldwater Community Center, decorated according to the theme of the play, and then group seating at the theatre. Dinner and ticket price is $83.

Local Artists, Taylor Scamehorn and Alex Long in collaboration with BlackMagic Media and The Edison Neighborhood Association are holding a car wash fundraiser to cover food costs at a free community event in Mid-September:"A Recipe for Abundance", funded in part by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. The car wash will be held tomorrow, Saturday August 2nd in the parking lot of the Dormouse Theater on Portage St. and Lake St. From 10am-4pm there will be a live DJ, hot dogs and corn on the grill to purchase, and exterior and interior car cleaning.
